The Pride: behind the scenes

In 2018 we produced our debut production of Alexi Kaye Campbell’s The Pride at Manchester’s stunning Hope Mill Theatre. A critical success we welcomed over 800 audience members in our sell-out run!

Starring Gareth George (Philip), Simon Hallman (Oliver), Joanna Leese (Sylvia) and Michael Thompson (The Man), the production was designed by LIPA graduate Frankie Gerrard.

The Pride focuses on the lives of three characters (Oliver, Philip and Sylvia) in two parallel time-frames: the 1950’s and modern day Britain. It explores themes of gay shame, monogamy vs. polygamy, historic treatment of homosexuality as a mental illness and the value of self worth.

Watch the below video for a glimpse into the rehearsal room and interviews with the cast and creatives on the themes within The Pride.
