QUEER ALL ABOUT IT: LUNCHBOXES
Written by Matt Gurr
Green Carnation Company are thrilled to present the second of our Queer All About It monologue commissions exploring themes affecting LGBTQ+ communities and individuals.
‘Lunchboxes’ by Matt Gurr responds to the theme “My Queer Family” celebrating LGBTQ+ families. It tells the story of a same-sex parent family through the eyes of adoptive father, Jamie, who watches his daughter’s first few weeks of school with a mix of hope and anxiety as he remembers his own school days.
Queer All About It: My Queer Family
Accompanying ‘Lunchboxes’ is a short educational film exploring and celebrating what ‘family’ can mean to LGBTQ+ people and what are the challenges, rewards and support they have experienced. From adoption to same-sex family planning, fostering to found and chosen families, LGBTQ+ families come in all shapes and sizes. And that is something to be celebrated.
The film features talking heads from LGBTQ+ family members across the UK including support organisations such as New Family Social, The Rainbow Project and FFLAG. Working with these charities we hope to signpost people towards support for LGBTQ+ families or parents of LGBTQ+ people.
